FAD | Colloque AVQMR | L’accessibilité aux soins vétérinaires : au-delà du bien-être animal… Pour le bien-être social! (#5023)

RECORDED CONFERENCES Hours of continuing education recognized by  OMVQ : 3H00 PARTNER ACTIVITY  Veterinary care accessibility: beyond animal welfare… For social welfare! 9h00 | Efficient spay and neuter techniques and HQHVSN (High Quality, High Volume Spay and Neuter) clinic efficiency (Sara White) Efficient spay and neuter techniques Safe, efficient surgical techniques are a cornerstone of HQHVSN. In this lecture, we will discuss techniques for routine spay neuter surgeries such as ovarian pedicle ties, Miller’s knots, use of the spay hook, and scrotal neuter in adult dogs and puppies. Alternative techniques such as flank spay and ovariectomy will be covered, as will techniques for unusual presentations such as cryptorchids and uterus unicornis. HQHVSN Clinic Efficiency  This lecture will discuss clinic staffing and options for peri-operative protocols to increase efficiency and decrease risks of errors. 10h30 | Why Access to Pet Resources is a Social Justice Issue (Amanda Arrington)  Pet-keeping crosses boundaries of socioeconomics, race, ethnicity, and geography. But access to pet services and information does not. Institutional bias and systemic inequity impact people and their pets. We will discuss the connection between animal welfare and social, racial and economic justice, and provide examples of how access to pet resources is being realized in historically marginalized and under-served communities. INFORMATIONS After you register, we will need to approve your registration status (member, non-member, student). Upon our approval, you will be able to complete your payment and you will then receive by email the link to connect to the training space. You will be able to watch the two conferences at your own pace.
